Apologies for the recent blog silence but with the advent of wireless networks the Don’t Panic office was temporarily relocated to the Caribbean!
It certainly makes a difference planning events from beside a pool with a strawberry daiquiri in your hand but we’re (sort of) pleased to say we’re now back in the thick of things preparing for an extremely hectic September.
Early next month we’re involved in managing the New Islington Festival on behalf of Urban Splash, English Partnerships and New East Manchester. It’s a family festival which is expected to attract thousands of visitors to an area of the city which has undergone major redevelopment and regeneration.
We’re also delighted to be managing a new media conference on behalf of Arts Council England which is taking place at FACT in Liverpool. We’ve actually been on a site visit this morning and thanks must go to the venue’s Kerry and Jamie who are a dream to deal with. A full review of the conference and venue will be posted after the event.
Later in September we’ll be travelling to Edinburgh for the fourth in the series of the University of Sunderland’s ‘Delivering the New PR’ conferences and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone north of Hadrian’s Wall.
One of our regular speakers is Tom Murphy whose PR Opinions blog has been a mainstay in the PR blogging world for the last four years. Tom has recently decided to end that particular blog but has re-emerged with the excellent Murphy’s Law. If you’re interested in social media it’s well worth a look.
We’re also managing events on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Chartered Institute of Marketing and Manchester Digital throughout the month and things don’t get any quieter in October, November and December. Still, it should provide plenty of content for our blog.
Finally, we’re pleased to say Don’t Panic is now officially one year old and we’d like to thank all our clients, delegates and venues for making it such a fantastic first year. Setting up a business takes a giant leap of faith but it’s truly the best thing I ever did.

Only one year? You could have fooled me in Sunderland last year: I thought you were dyed-in-the-wool event managers with a lifelong reputation. Anyway: congrats and keep up the good work. And yes: there could have been a Stevie Wonder song title in here... :-)
