We were in Bolton yesterday evening braving the wet and cold to manage the launch of Door to Door, the town’s biggest ever work of public art.
Hundreds of residents from local estates were filmed at their doorsteps by artists Matt and Rob Vale and the resulting footage projected across the length of the town’s historic Le Mans Crescent to create a stunning visual celebration of council housing and the close knit neighbourhoods that exist in the borough.
The installation was commissioned by Bolton at Home to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its ongoing commitment to use public art to assist the regeneration of communities in the thousands of local authority homes they manage.
A movie-themed launch party was held at the Albert Halls for all those involved in the project before the official switch on and the projections can be seen every evening for the next week.
Here’s a much better explanation of what it’s all about together with a video clip from today’s Guardian.
